Independence Day
Happy Independence Day to all American visitors!
And, as I am sure that the lovely American people are far too busy enjoying
the fireworks to read this blog, this related article from the Royal Website
might be of interest to British readers. Some of the newspapers complain so much
(and, in my opinion so needlessly!!) about the number of immigrants from Eastern
Europe, King George III’s speech about the loss of America is very revealing
about how British people were immigrants in the past: ‘Poland contained nearly
10, 000 Scotch pedlars...’ Funny, too, how the newspapers call British people
who live overseas ‘ex-pats’ but call people from overseas who choose to live in
Britain ‘immigrants’.
